IBC2017 - Call for Technical Papers and Posters

  • Authors of successful papers are invited to present their work at the IBC2017 Conference and will see them published and available for download in a digital library

How can I get involved?

IBC welcomes entries from every discipline, whether you are a professional or a professor, a member of a R&D team, working alone or within a global brand and from across any part of the broadcast, communications, electronic media and entertainment fields.  

The authors of successful synopses will be invited by the Technical Papers Committee to prepare full papers for a second peer review. Full papers will then be selected for publication and authors invited to make a 20 minute presentation at the IBC Conference on 14 - 18 September 2017.

All papers must be presented orally in English.

We will also provide a list of the subject categories and an example entry available which may help structure your entry.

Call for papers opens Tuesday 3 January
Synopsis submission deadline Monday 6 February - Deadline Extended to Monday 13 Feb
Committee peer review meeting Friday 10 March
Synopsis acceptance notification w/c 20 March
Full papers deadline   Monday 8 May
Committee full paper review meeting  Friday 9 June
Presentation slides submitted August date TBC
Accepted papers presented at IBC2017   14 – 18 September


Technical Papers Review Process

January Call for papers is published requiring authors to submit a short synopsis (300 words)


February - March


Committee assess and vote on submitted synopses, reaching a consensus decision at a meeting at the IBC offices in March


Synopses results are communicated with all authors

  • Authors of successful synopses will be asked to submit a full 8-page paper or a technical poster for further review, along with guidelines and deadline dates
  • Authors of unsuccessful synopses will be provided a reason as to why their synopses did not meet the criteria for the next stage
  • Some synopses that do not satisfy the criteria to be accepted for the technology stream may be recommended to other areas of the show. Authors of these synopses will be contacted directly


April - May


Draft conference plan coordinated

Authors of successful synopses have until Monday 8 May to submit their full paper for the second stage of review

The committee are then given three weeks to assess and vote on the full papers




Committee meet at the IBC offices to decide on final outcome for all papers    




Final results are communicated with all paper authors

Potential outcomes:

  • Paper accepted to orally present at the IBC Conference
  • Paper accepted with changes to be made by the author, as advised by the committee. Deadline extended for this purpose
  • Paper accepted as Publish Only (PO) in online conference proceedings but not orally presented at the IBC Conference
  • Paper declined will be provided a detailed reason as to why their paper has not been accepted for inclusion in the IBC Conference.
  • Top Conference Papers will go through a third stage review by a panel of peer reviewers from the IET
