Paper Session: Novel Ideas and Cutting Edge Technologies

Emerald
Stream : ADVANCES IN TECHNOLOGY

Every year we receive papers describing novel ideas and innovative developments which just don't fit into any session category. Each year we bring these to you in the special and popular 'Cutting Edge Technologies' session.

The 2016 collection of such papers explores: the very latest ideas in virtual production; new approaches to crowd-sourced news gathering; a feast of novel studies in object-based media; and a very innovative approach to gaze-tracking by processing views of the cornea. Our supporting paper explores voice control in an 'internet of things' environment. Widen your horizons and join us for a thought-provoking glimpse of what the future may hold.

Papers in order of presentation:

Oliver Grau, Director of Operations, Intel, Germany "DREAMSPACE: A PLATFORM AND TOOLS FOR COLLABORATIVE VIRTUAL PRODUCTION"

Ray van Brandenburg, Research Scientist, TNO, Netherlands "TOWARDS NEW FORMS OF NEWS GATHERING THROUGH CROWDSOURCED LIVE MOBILE STREAMING SYSTEMS"

Lotfi El Hafi, Doctoral Student, Nara Institute of Science and Technology, Japan "GAZE TRACKING USING CORNEAL IMAGES CAPTURED BY A SINGLE HIGH-SENSITIVITY CAMERA"

Michael Evans, UX Research Lead, BBC R&D, United Kingdom "CREATING OBJECT-BASED EXPERIENCES IN THE REAL WORLD"

Supporting paper:

Mark Bugajski, Senior VP Advanced Technology CTO-CPE, ARRIS, USA "FUTURE OF VOICE CONTROL FOR CONSUMER INTERACTIONS WITH INTERNET OF THINGS SYSTEMS: IN THE CONTEXT OF INTEGRATION WITH OTHER SERVICES OFFERED BY TRADITIONAL SERVICE PROVIDERS"
