A pioneer of multinational network transmission and broadcasting developments since 1950, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) is one of the world’s largest and most influential associations of national broadcasters. It brings together 125 broadcasters from 56 countries, spanning Europe, North Africa and beyond. It has a further 43 associate members from outside the region.
EBU TECHNICAL is showcasing a number of the research and development activities it is undertaking in conjunction with several members including the IRT, RAI and VRT. In the adjacent Village, there are also a number of European Projects and the Industry Associations DigiTAG and WorldDMB.
EBU TECHNICAL demonstrations focus on some important issues that are critical to the future of broadcasting, including Hybrid Broadcast/ Broadband TV – the long awaited true convergent technology, and Scalable Video Coding - ensuring the evolutionary path to 1080p50. Visitors can also discuss with the experts other topics including Audio Loudness, the Digital Radio Profiles, Metadata developments, and Broadcasting Spectrum issues.
