Company profile
Starfish Technologies has an excellent reputation for meeting international broadcasters’ operational requirements with innovative products and systems.

We have extensive expertise in the development and implementation of regional insertion (TV channel regionalisation and ad insertion), audio description/video description and closed captioning/subtitling.

Regional Insertion Systems
Increasingly, forward-thinking broadcasters are responding to the pressures on advertising revenue by regionalising content with regional ad insertion, local news and programme opt-out. Besides attracting new advertising business, local programming has proved popular with audiences and strengthens channel branding. We provide a variety of scalable broadcasting solutions that are implemented throughout Europe. Variations on the implementation of this technology also allow us to offer sophisticated disaster recovery systems.

Audio Description
Also known as video description or VI, audio description is an additional audio commentary for the visually impaired that accompanies the normal programme sound. World leaders in this arena, Starfish, offer the most comprehensive product range of file-based technology encompassing authoring, processing and delivery. Starfish engineers have been involved with the development of AD technology since 1999.

Captioning and Subtitling
Specialist products include automated subtitle file QC, transport stream processing and real-time decoding of VBI captions into burnt-in and DVB subtitles.
