Company profile
Television Research Institute (Federal State Unitary Enterprise Television Research Institute or TRI) is a Russian state-owned research organisation based in St Petersburg. Having been established in 1935, TRI is enjoying the status of the Russia’s oldest and apparently most renowned TV broadcasting research institution. The first photo of the earth from space, the first photo of the dark side of the moon, the first TV broadcasting from space showing the image of Yuri Gagarin, independent development and implementation of the mass television network in the Soviet Union and the first digital TV complex are only a few of TRI’s impressive achievements. Still, despite the glorious legacy, TRI is rather looking forward than back and keeps pace with time, being heavily involved in digital television implementation in Russia. TRI’s fields of interest include among others the following:-
- compact transmitting/receiving TV stations (container and mast options);
- video signal compression technologies, coding/decoding devices based on efficient methods of compression developed by TRI for SD and HD TV broadcasting standards, space TV and other special solutions;
- remote education TV systems;
- instrumentation for quality control of TV and radio broadcasting, broadcast monitoring technologies on the basis of IP solutions.
