The IBC Big Screen - Auditorium

Designed to IBC’s specifications and featuring the very latest in cinema technology this state of the art auditorium is was centrepiece of the IBC2012 experience. With capacity for 1,700 people and boasting facilities for 4K and stereoscopic 3D digital projection, with audio presented in Dolby 7.1 surround sound, the stunning IBC Big Screen played host to numerous presentations and conference sessions, as well as exclusive movie screenings. It was the perfect place to see and hear the latest technical advances, to celebrate the IBC Awards and to unwind in comfort.

The IBC Big Screen's cutting edge facilities were put to perfect use in a series of sessions demonstrating the very latest in digital cinema and broadcast technology. High resolution imaging is showcased by Red, ARRI and Canon with special previews of content lensed at HD, 2K and 4K with explanations of how the specific look is achieved by world leading cinematographers.

Plus Christie presented the first ever showing of a 3D feature length film screened using laser projection technology. With issues of low light affecting the experience of 3D projected movies IBC also invited delegates to an exclusive screening of a 3D film mastered and shown at full 2D movie specification brightness. Could this be the shot in the arm stereo 3D has been waiting for?

IBC Big Screen Experience

The goal of much of the technology and business initiatives at IBC is to provide quality entertainment. In that spirit everyone is welcome to relax and enjoy some of the year’s biggest blockbusters. Topping the bill for 2012 was a world’s first complete screening of a feature length 3D movie using laser projection. In 2012 IBC Big Screen presented attendees with two exciting complimentary screenings, both featuring innovative technology that makes Digital cinema such an exciting development. The screenings form part of the IBC Big Screen experience and could be accessed alongside the exhibitor sessions as part of an attendees' exhibition pass.
