IBC2010 Conference
Challenging Mindsets in a Modern Media Landscape
Presented and attended by the most influential in the industry, the IBC Conference provides a platform for discussing and debating the developments that are changing the creation, management and delivery of entertainment and news content worldwide.
Whether in the field of new technologies, workflows or business models, the IBC conference brings together the individuals who are defining the roadmap towards the global digital content market of the future.
People such as outgoing ITV chairman Michael Grade, Ogilvy advertising guru Rory Sutherland, Walt Disney's VP Howard Lukk and, from China, SARFT president Ju Ma. IBC2009 attracted the highest calibre international contributors from every segment of the convergent media industry – it's where BBC digital doyen Erik Huggers chose to announce the broadcaster's plans to create an international version of the iPlayer.
Shaped by IBC's Conference Committee - which draws together vastly experienced individuals from across the broadcasting and media industry - the 2010 conference agenda is split into four clearly-defined streams:
Hot topics will run across all four streams and cover some of the biggest opportunities and challenges in the industry:
- Sports broadcasting is a massive international market and with the Winter Olympics and FIFA World Cup Finals taking place, 2010 is a key year. This year, the IBC Conference welcomes leading figures and entrepreneurs from the world of sports broadcasting who will analyse and debate today’s technical, creative and business challenges and opportunities.
- Stereo 3D has wowed cinema audiences around the world, but will it make it into our homes – if so how, and when? The IBC Conference looks at the new breed of 3D techniques, technology, standards and business models that are emerging for the entertainment world. Which will win the day and which are likely to fail?
- Public service broadcasting – Around the world public service broadcasters play a critical role, providing social cohesion within their countries. How do we define it, what challenges does it face in a fragmenting media world; and how does the model differ around the globe?
- Who pays for content? The IBC Conference also examines the challenge of monetizing content. What does good paid-for content look like, who pays for it; and how can you make money from branded content in a social media driven world?
