The Connected World of IBC

Connected World
The rise of ‘smart phones’ and new high-speed mobile networks are changing the way millions of people consume content: ‘app’ downloads are predicted to exceed 21 billion by 2013, yielding almost $30 billion (Gartner) and Google is making mobile its primary focus.

The OECD sees broadband penetration as an important measure of a country’s economic and social health.  Global IPTV subscribers are forecast to reach 68 million by 2014 (Strategy Analytics).

The telecommunications industry is creating an increasingly connected world for consumers with profound implications for the traditional broadcast community.

At IBC2010, alternative distribution technologies such as IPTV, Mobile TV and Digital Signage will be brought together in a Connected World of demonstrations, devices and debate - all under one roof.

Located in Hall 9, the focal point of the Connected World will be a ‘Connected Home of the Future’, which will showcase the opportunities arising from the distribution of TV, video and digital content whether via connected set-top boxes and receivers, hybrid TVs, LCDs, netbooks, games consoles, tablets, media players or mobile phones.

Alongside this, free Exhibition Business Briefings will take place in ‘the Hub’ - a dedicated seminar and presentation facility. Visitors have a unique opportunity to learn about the latest developments and business opportunities in digital signage, IPTV and mobile, while exhibitors can share their insights into the impact that new distribution technologies are having on the content creation, management and delivery experience.

“Interactive displays will be integrated with free business briefings from exhibitors to create a connected world of devices and demonstrations,” says IBC CEO Michael Crimp. “By integrating its broadcasting roots with the new wave, IBC aims to help its visitors find the information, insight and inspiration they need on their voyage through change, towards growth.”
