A show of efficiency

Panasonic''s Jaume Rey
Panasonic's move into the Production Village at IBC2009 was very important to Jaume Rey, director and head of professional and broadcast IT systems for Panasonic in Europe.

"These exhibitions are important meeting points and the location in the Production Village means we can be of better service to our customers," he said. "The Production Village is a bright idea, and a unique one, too. I can't think of anything else like it at any other show."

Rey believes visitors to IBC2009 were there to make a "project position" and thinks that the stand's position in Hall 9 maximised Panasonic's face time with its target audience. He said: "Of course there's been less people this year, largely due to the economic difficulties of the last 12 months, but we are pleased that those who came to IBC2009 came for a very strong reason: business."

This year's IBC attracted more than 45,000 attendees from 130 countries around the world, exhibiting more than 1,300 of the world's key technology suppliers. The Production Village gathered videographers, film makers and camera enthusiasts in a way that hadn't been tried before, providing a captive audience for all those exhibiting their latest broadcast and digital camera technology.

"In terms of efficiency," said Rey, "this has been our best-ever year".
