Demand drives an extra hall at IBC2010

Hall 13
As the industry emerges from recession, manufacturers are looking for better ways to engage with their customers. Top of the list is IBC, as the growing demand for exhibition space proves.

Current exhibitors are keen to expand their footprint at IBC2010, and there was an ever-growing waiting list for new companies keen to have a presence this year. Responding to this demand, IBC took the decision to add another hall.

Hall 13 will be located in the space between the new Elicium tower, the Auditorium and Hall 3. The building will add more than 800 square metres and be finished internally to the same high standard as the rest of the exhibition.

According to John Holton, chair of the IBC exhibition committee, adding Hall 13 is a clear illustration of how IBC is run for the industry, by the industry. “First, it suggests that the exhibition committee, the permanent staff at IBC and, especially, our contacts at the RAI in Amsterdam can work together and move quickly,” he said. “There is nothing to beat long-term relationships, and it meant that IBC and the RAI could react successfully to the continuing demand.

“More important, it says that there is a real sense of optimism in the industry,” he added. “The appetite for media around the world is stronger than ever, and broadcasters and producers know they have to work better, smarter, faster and more creatively to feed that appetite.”

And talking of appetites, Hall 13 is also a good place to take time out for a coffee or a snack. Taking a break at the IBC I-Cafe need not be totally unproductive, either: there is free Wifi if you need to check your emails or get online. You might want to check out www.ibc.org for the latest breaking news or to book training sessions.

Demand from the manufacturing community drove the need for extra storage space; IBC responded with a new hall which is also a hub for training and communications.
