Lim Chin Siang is Director, IT and Technology for the Media Development Authority (MDA) of Singapore. He oversees the IT deployment, application development and databases of MDA. On the technology side, he provides input and advises on all aspects of transmission technologies – radio, terrestrial, cable, satellite and Internet. He was a member of the Singapore Digital TV Technical Committee. Presently, he also sits on the Telecommunications Standards Advisory Committee of IDA.
Chin Siang started work in 1979 as a QC engineer. Two years later, he was transferred to work on electronically-tuned car radios and Citizen Band transceivers as a development engineer.
In 1983 he left to build up a broadcast-grade video resource centre (VRC) and a training centre. The VRC is a fully-equipped broadcast-grade production and recording centre with its own studio, outdoor production equipment, editing suites and sound booth. As the Director of VRC, Chin Siang marketed VRC, developed and conducted various Video, Audio and RF engineering courses.
Before joining the Singapore Broadcasting Authority (the former name of MDA) in 1998, he spent another 3years in the private sector doing pager design and development.
Lim Chin Siang has a B. Sc. (1st Class Hons) in Physics, an MBA and an MSc with majors in communications/computer science.
