Ger Baron, born on april 13 in 1978, has studied Literary Criticism. Right after his study in 2004 (graduated 2005) he started his professional career in Accenture, working as analyst in the consulting department. In this department his work was mainly for internal purposes with focus on Business Development for the Utility industry. On of the projects he has worked on was investigating the opportunity to start a CRM/Customer Insight-practice in the Netherlands. This seemed feasable and was launched in 2006. In 2006 Ger grabbed the opportunity to become part of the campaign team for the Social Democratic Party in the Netherlands (PvdA). His role in this team, amongst others, was using content from the election programme to reach out to the greater audience. Although the elections can be considered as a defeat, this period was very useful to get understanding about mechanisms in press.
In 2007 Ger started working with the Amsterdam Innovation Motor (AIM) as project manager to develop project in the field of Sustainability en ICT. Due to strong growth of AIM his focus is now mostly on ICT. In this role Ger was responsible for starting up the Amsterdam ICT-cluster and initiated several projects that aim to use the strength of the region with regards to service innovation. Most relevant for this course is the project Amsterdam Living Lab which is executed in close harmony with University of Amsterdam, Telematica Instituut, Waag Society and several companies.
Besides this Ger works on a several other projects eg a benchmark between several European ICT-clusters (REDICT) and project using ICT to enable users to reduce CO2 (Amsterdam Smart City).
