John Ive
John Ive's career in the television industry spans 35 years and has included periods with the BBC, the former IBA (Independent Broadcasting Authority) and Sony Professional.
For the past three years John has run a consultancy practice helping clients with their strategic, planning and technology decisions. He is also in regular demand as a presenter, moderator and for training seminars. Clients include broadcasters, suppliers, industry organisations and research companies, many of whom employ him for his extensive and wide ranging industry knowledge.
His experience spans senior management, technology, operations, marketing, and research & development in both radio and television. He has also produced and edited programmes for commercial use.
During his time at Sony Professional he held senior management roles during which the company grew from a team of sixteen based in the Netherlands into the largest and one of the leading industry suppliers. On leaving he was Director of Strategic Planning, a role which placed him at the forefront of industry change management and well recognised as an industry spokesman.
John is a member of the European and UK High Definition Forum and IBC Council and is a Director of the Professional MPEG Forum and the Program Director for the annual HD Masters conference. He has also worked on television technology standards through the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE). On a contract basis John is the Director of Technology for the International Association of Broadcast Manufacturers (IABM), Journal editor, Program Director of the IABM annual conference and developer of the IABM/DCKTN training seminars.
