IBC2011

IBC2010 Big Screen Movies Included:

Toy Story 3

Toy StoryIt was 15 years ago that ‘Toy Story’ was released, the first digital animation movie for a popular audience. It transformed the industry, just as IBC’s focus on digital cinema has informed the creative and commercial debate.

One of 2010’s box office hits is the third episode in the franchise, now of course in stereoscopic 3D.

Courtesy of Buena Vista and produced by The Walt Disney Company’s Pixar Animation Studios, the movie is as much a showcase for 3D and digital surround sound as the original movie was for CGI. IBC matched this with a state of the art presentation, using the Dolby 3D display system along with Dolby 7.1 surround.

This chance to appreciate the latest capabilities in digital cinema was free to all visitors, and as with all IBC movies, was very popular.

Avatar (Special Edition)

Avatar 9Special Edition)There has not been a movie phenomenon like Avatar. The highest grossing production of all time, it transformed the movie-going world’s perception of stereoscopic 3D.

Through the imagination of director James Cameron, and his skilful and subtle use of 3D, audiences were literally drawn into the fantasy world of the planet Pandora.

IBC2009 was the first place at which Cameron gave permission to show extended excerpts from the movie. That was a ringing endorsement of the importance of IBC as the major global forum in digital cinematography as well as broadcasting.

A special screening of Avatar, courtesy of 20th Century Fox International and by kind permission of Lightstorm Entertainment, took place in the Auditorium, using the RealD stereoscopic 3D system. Admission was free and was one of the most popular screenings IBC has ever offered.
