Daniel Toole

Daniel ToolDaniel Toole is managing director of Agon Consulting. Agon specialises in strategy, investment, technology and outsourcing advice for the technology, media and telecommunications sector. Agon advises major corporations, private equity institutions, private investors, Governments and regulators.
Daniel has over 20 years experience in the TMT sector. Since working on BT’s converged media and communications vision in the early 1990s, Daniel has advised on several industry leading projects including: the creation of the UK’s first LLU operator, a £multi-B transaction to establish one of the largest technology companies in the media sector, a £multi-B bid for BT’s local loop, IPTV delivery for one of the largest telco’s, online ad optimisation for one of the largest internet companies and 3D technology for a major private equity investor.

After an early career in R&D, then management consultancy, Daniel became Head of Strategy and Investment at BBC Technology, where he was responsible for the BBC’s technology strategy and the creation of Red Bee Media and BBC Technology. Daniel also advised on the BBC’s licence fee renewal and the valuation of all of the BBC’s commercial activities. Daniel then joined the Board of Amey Technology Services, where he was responsible for strategy, M&A and all contracts from £1m to £1B+. Subsequently Daniel joined Fujitsu, co-leading its top ten outsourcing deals, worth 250m-£4B; before becoming Head of Media and Entertainment at Accenture.

Daniel graduated from Cambridge University with a Masters in Natural Sciences and from London Business School with a Masters in Finance with Distinction; he is Chair of the London Business School Media Alumni Club and sits on the IBC conference committee, the MPEGIF 3D working group and is a former fellow of Arts in Business.
