BBC R&D IRFS
BBC R&D Internet Research and Future Services (IRFS) is a cross-platform, multi-discipline team that aims to help invent the future of media. We develop Internet technologies through research, prototyping and open experimentation.
We work across all digital platforms and combine emerging technologies with audience needs. We maintain that the best way to think about ideas and solve problems is to create tangible things to experiment with.
We are open, collaborative and work with others throughout the media and internet industry, both in the UK and internationally. We work with the W3C, EBU and many other organisations to define new web and technology standards. Our team members regularly write and speak about their work in public.
At IBC will showcased the Automatic Broadcast Content Interlinking Project (ABC-IP) which is developing advanced techniques for the automated interlinking of different sources of metadata around large video and audio collections via speech recognition and automatic tag creation.
