IBC2012 Leaders' Summit Review
The IBC2012 Leaders' Summit featured an in-depth, rigorous examination of the connected world under the theme ‘Smart Connections’. At a time when social media and OTT operators in the pay-TV market threaten to change the fundamental nature of the business, the aim of this summit was to chart a course through likely future developments. It was underpinned by proprietary research from Deloitte that examined five major dynamics affecting the industry: the advance of connected TV; tech companies’ investments in TV; the symbiotic relationship between tech and TV; whether television is dead, and if not, why not; and new content economics.
Chaired by highly respected journalist, publisher, broadcaster and media owner, Andrew Neil, the debate focused tightly on the strategic opportunities and threats created by the dynamic changes in the consumption of media. Sessions examined the subject of Connected TV from all angles, from projected consumer behaviour, to new approaches to rights, from the surprising and continued strength of traditional television formats to the rise of the new digital giants, with the result that delegates came away with invaluable insights into the emergent industry topology. Strong interaction with their peer group of technology, media and telecommunications leaders enabled delegates to mould, form, test and refine their own views.
At the end of the Summit, delegates carried away unique and valuable strategic insights and a host of influential industry contacts. They investigated how Connected TV is shifting value, changing business models and creating new opportunities for the industry; heard from the industry leaders and opinion-formers shaping this sector of the business; gained access to proprietary independent research from Deloitte on Connected TV commissioned exclusively for the Summit by IBC; and equipped themselves with an exclusive package of informed strategic knowledge that gave their organisation the competitive edge in a dynamic market.

“The inaugural Leaders’ Summit provided thought-provoking and topical debate on the pertinent business issues facing leaders globally today. Last year we focussed on an in-depth, rigorous examination of the connected world under the theme ‘Smart Connections’. Both summits gave delegates an exclusive package of informed strategic knowledge and the tools to equip themselves with the opportunity to create a competitive edge in a dynamic market. IBC Leaders' Summit has firmly established a reputation as the forum to debate and share the future of broadcast and media business as well as providing a great opportunity for an international audience to interact and network with each other.” Andrew Neil, Anchor IBC Leaders’ Summit
