Sir Ridley Scott awarded the highest honour at the Baftas as Three Billboards, Darkest Hour and The Shape of Water scoop top awards.
The highest honour bestowed by the Academy, The Fellowship, was awarded to director and producer Sir Ridley Scott recognising his outstanding achievement and lifetime dedication to the moving image.
Excellence across international films was recognised at this year’s British Academy Film Awards (Bafta) with Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri winning five awards including Best Film, Outstanding British Film, Frances McDormand won Leading Actress, Sam Rockwell was awarded Supporting Actor and Martin McDonagh for Original Screenplay.
Bafta awarded Gary Oldman Best Leading Actor for Darkest Hour the World War II story following Winston Churchill and his decision to negotiate with Adolf Hitler, the film also won the award for Make up and Hair.
Fantasy film, The Shape of Water won three awards with composer Alexandre Desplat winning the award for Original Music, Guillermo del Toro won the award for Director and the film also took home the award for Production Design.
Supporting Actress went to Allison Janney for her portrayal of Tonya Harding’s mother in I, Tonya.
Blade Runner 2049 won Special Visual Effects and saw Roger Deakins win his fourth Bafta for Cinematography.
Raoul Peck won the Documentary award for I Am Not Your Negro and Film Not in the English Language was won by South Korean drama The Handmaiden and Coco took the Bafta for Animated Film.
Writer and director Rungano Nyoni and producer Emily Morgan received the award for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer for I Am Not a Witch.
Baby Driver was awarded the Bafta for Editing and best Costume Design was awarded to Phantom Thread. James Ivory won for Adapted Screenplay for Call Me by Your Name and Dunkirk for Sound. Cowboy Dave won the British Short Film award.
The Special Award for Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema was presented to the National Film and Television School (NFTS). The school has trained generations of Bafta-nominated film talent. This year’s British Short Animation award was won by Poles Apart, which is the 13th NFTS graduation film to win a Bafta.
The EE Rising Star Award, voted for by the public, went to Daniel Kaluuya for his performance in mystery thriller Get Out.
