77th Golden Globes: Netflix’s The Irishman leads with six film nominations 

The 77th Golden Globes have been announced with Netflix leading the pack with 17 nominations for The Crown and The Irishman, while shows from HBO, Prime Video and AppleTV+ also made the shortlist. 

The top film nominations go to Netflix’s Marriage Story leads with six nods and The Irishman and Once Upon A Time In Hollywood with five nominations and four to Joker. 

While Chernobyl, Unbelievable and The Crown lead the TV programme nominations each with four nods and Barry, Big Little Lies, Fleabag, Fosse/Verdon, The Kominsky Method, The Morning Show and Succession follow with three nominations each. 

Leading the film distributors is Netflix with 17 nominations and Sony followed with a total of eight nominations. Netflix also leads the TV categories with 17, followed by HBO with 15.

The 2020 Golden Globes will honour Tom Hanks with the Cecil B deMille Award and Ellen DeGeneres with the newly created Carol Burnett Award.

The awards will be telecast in a three-hour reception hosted by Ricky Gervais, live on NBC on Sunday 5 January 2020.
