Alex Hamilton named new Studiocanal CEO

Former president of international and managing director at Entertainment One Alex Hamilton has been made CEO of Studiocanal UK.

During his time at Entertainment One which ran from 2008 to 2019, Hamilton spearheaded the company’s UK film business and was responsible for acquiring and distributing a wide range of feature films, including the Twilight franchise, and 12 Years a Slave.

Nicola Shindler, who previously held the role since September 2018, will now become its chief creative officer.

BBC Studios promotes Maggy Chan

BBC Studios promoted Maggy Chan to the newly created role of managing director of global distribution.

As MD, she is responsible for all business operations and the delivery of business plans for the global distribution division.

Previously commercial director of global market, Chan oversaw the day to day running of operational and financial activity.

Deputy CEO and CEO of ProSiebenSat.1 exits

ProSiebenSat.1 Deputy CEO Conrad Albert and CEO Max Conze both resigned from their roles from the German broadcaster just two weeks apart in March.

It was reported that criticism from within the company led to an executive reshuffle.

The reshuffle sees chief financial officer Rainer Beaujean additionally assume the office of chairman of the executive board, a role previously held by Conze.

Former Disney acquisition exec moves to Vuulr

Vuulr has appointed Avanthi Ram to the new role of marketplace success lead.

Formerly senior manager of content acquisitions at Disney, Ram has joined Vuulr with a remit to drive growth in film and TV licensing transactions.

She will also work to develop and build relationships with clients drawing from her 15 year career in media.

Havas Media Group appoints Dentsu’s Patrick Affleck as CEO

Havas Media Group is to appoint Patrick Affleck as its new UK CEO, following the departure of Matt Adams earlier this year. He will join the group from Dentsu X, where he is currently CEO.

In his new role, Affleck will be responsible for leading and growing the 500-strong Havas Media Group.

Affleck’s career spans over 18 years, having worked at media agencies ZenithOptimedia and Vizeum in both UK and global leadership positions.

Huawei names Guo Ping as new acting chairman

Huawei announced that Guo Ping will assume the position of acting chairman from 1 April.

Guo steps up from his Deputy Chairman role replace Eric Xu, who acted as Chairman since October last year.

As Huawei’s top leader, Guo will now be heading up the Board of Directors and Executive Committee.
