FuboTV names Edgar Bronfman Jr executive chairman
Venture capitalist Edgar Bronfman Jr has been named executive chairman at live TV streaming platform fuboTV, and has also been appointed to the board of directors. 

Bronfman has been an early investor in fuboTV and in his increased role, will help to advise on the strategic direction of the company, drawing from his expertise and prominence within the media industry. 

Hanno Basse appointed as Microsoft Azure CTO
Microsoft Azure Media and Entertainment has appointed Hanno Basse as new chief technology officer.

Formerly chief technology officer at 20th Century Fox Film, Basse spent his tenure working on emerging and new technologies and its capabilities including high dynamic range (HDR), ultra HD, virtual and augmented reality, content protection and immersive sound.

At Microsoft Azure, he will work with Hollywood studios, TV networks and content producers as the company’s liaison in driving the adoption and move to the cloud.

BBC Studios names president of the Americas
BBC Studios, the commercial arm of the broadcaster, has named Rebecca Glashow as its new president for the Americas.

The former co-head of Viacom-owned Awesomeness who has worked at the Gen Z company since 2016 departed the company earlier in April for the role at BBC Studios. As president of the Americas, she will lead the region’s strategy to develop the company’s diversified distribution business activities in the U.S., Canada and Latin America.

At Awesomeness, Glashow led all business operations and revenue including sales, marketing, research, distribution and production.

GB Labs appoints chief product officer
Howard Twine has been appointed as chief product officer at intelligent storage solutions company GB Labs.

Twine joined GB Labs from EditShare, where he held the post of director of software strategy for the QScan brand. At GB Labs, he will be leading the interface between GB Labs users, technology partners and the development of new technologies.

The company also announced Duncan Beatties’ promotion to chief solutions officer, a newly created role enabled by Twine’s appointment.

Marco Lopez rejoins Grass Valley
Former Grass Valley president Marco Lopez returned to the company in April and has been named senior vice president, live production.

Lopez left Grass Valley in January 2018 to become chief executive of ChyronHego.

In this role, Lopez will be responsible for accelerating innovation across key strategic areas, such as remote production, IP-connected live workflows and virtualised media workflows.

Nick Thexton joins Synamedia as CTO
Synamedia has named ex-ProSiebenSat.1 executive Nick Thexton as CTO.

Thexton recently departed the German broadcaster in February after just a year holding the post.

Upon joining Synamedia, Thexton will be overseeing Synamedia’s video platform engineering, product management, architecture and marketing.
