France-based Mediawan Group and TV has teamed up with TV and film financier Entourage Ventures on a €100 million co-investment deal for the financing of TV series.

The deal spans four to six years, and will see Entourage Ventures work with Mediawan Rights, the Mediawan Group’s distribution subsidiary, to co-develop, co-produce and co-distribute series with strong international potential.

Investments and revenue will be shared 50/50, with Mediawan handling the operational distribution of the series and Entourage contributing its expertise in this type of co-investment and its ecosystem of professional investors, including 123 Investment Managers, a private equity firm, Audiens, the social protection group for the film and audiovisual industries, and the Hottinguer Bank.

The agreement spans drama, animated and documentary series, and covers future productions as well as a large number of existing Mediawan Rights projects such as Zorro, and Civilizations, the adaptation of the best-seller by Laurent Binet.

Founded in late 2015 by Pierre-Antoine Capton, Xavier Niel and Matthieu Pigasse, Mediawan has over 50 production labels in France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Finland and Senegal. Entourage Ventures is an investment firm specialized in the content industry, founded in 2015 by Julien Delajoux and Matthias Nicodeme. In 2016, Entourage entered into a co-investment agreement with Gaumont, and invested more than €50 million on some 40 French films.
