BBC TV dramas A Very English Scandal and Killing Eve were among the winners last night at the Bafta Television Craft Awards which celebrated the best behind the scenes talent of 2018.

The Bafta Craft Awards recognised the on and off-screen talent with the BBC, ITV and Sky Atlantic among the winners. 

The drama mini-series A Very English Scandal based on the Jeremy Thorpe scandal won three of its nominations including Costume Design, Director: Fiction and Editing: Fiction.

Spy drama Killing Eve starring Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh won two Baftas for Original Music and Sound: Fiction. 

Patrick Melrose starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Hugo Weaving won two Baftas for Production Design and Writer: Drama.

Bafta continued to recognise the best emerging talent in the industry with its Breakthrough Talent category, this year the award was won by composer, producer and writer Akemnji Ndifornyen for Famalam.

First-time winners included: Barbara Wiltshire as Director: Multi-Camera for Inside No 9 Live: Dead Line; Will Gilbey won the Editing: Factual for Bros: After the Screaming Stops; Lindsay McCrae took home the Photography: Factual for Dynasties: Emperor and Woo-Hyung Kim won the Photography and lighting: Fiction award for The Little Drummer Girl.

Bafta Special Award

Emma Thomas was presented with the Bafta Special Award for her outstanding contribution to the industry. Thomas has worked as a script supervisor on TV programmes including Goodnight Sweetheart, Birds of a Feather, Benidorm, Bad Education, Luther and The Bill.

Most recently, she was the script supervisor on Soon Gone: A Windrush Chronicle for BBC4, a series of monologues that reveal the hopes, desires, achievements, shattered dreams and broken promises of a single fictionalised family over four generations. 

The Awards ceremony was held last night at The Brewery in London and was hosted by Stephen Mangan.
