The Royal Television Society (RTS) has announced its 2018 programme awards nominations.

BBC One’s Three Girls has received three nominations for Breakthrough Award for leading actor Molly Windsor, Nicole Taylor earned the series a nomination for the Writer - Drama category as well as recognised under the best Mini-Series Award.

Three Girls: BBC drama

The Drama Series award sees Channel 4’s Ackley Bridge and The End of the F***ing World and Netflix’s The Crown in the running, while BBC One’s Damilola, Our Loved Boy nominated in the Single Drama category along with BBC Three’s Murdered for Being Different and BBC Two’s King Charles III.

The Soap and Continuing Drama award will be contended by ITV’s Coronation Street, BBC One’s EastEnders and BBC One’s Holby City.

Little Boy Blue receives two additional nominations for two of its lead actors – Sinéad Keenan runs for the Best Female Actor award against Wunmi Mosaku for BBC One’s Damilola and Our Loved Boy up against Thandie Newton for BBC One’s Line of Duty. 

Stephen Graham is joined in the Best Male Actor category by Sean Bean for BBC One’s Broken and Jack Rowan who wins the second nomination for Channel 4’s Born To Kill. 

The Documentary Series award nominations go to BBC Two’s Hospital, Channel 4’s Catching A Killer and BBC Two’s The Detectives: Murder on the Streets. 

The Single Documentary award features nominees from BBC Two’s Chris Packham: Aspergers and Me, BBC One’s Rio Ferdinand Being Mum and Dad and Channel 5’s The Accused.

Channel 4’s The Last Leg starring Adam Hills, Alex Brooker and Josh Widdecombe will hope to repeat last year’s triumph in the Entertainment Performance category, where they are joined by Claudia Winkleman for BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing and Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly for ITV’s I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!.

Ant and Dec for ITV’s I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!

Ant and Dec will have a chance to retain their Entertainment Programme crown for ITV’s Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, in a category that also includes BBC Three’s Murder in Successville and ITV’s Love Island.

The Presenter category features last year’s winner Grayson Perry for Channel 4’s Grayson Perry: Divided Britain, as well as Anita Rani for BBC One’s My Family, Partition and Me: India 1947, and Gordon Ramsay for ITV’s Gordon Ramsay on Cocaine.

Osi Umenyiora for BBC Two’s NFL This Week, The NFL Show will also defend his 2017 title against Michael Johnson for BBC One and BBC Two’s World Athletics Championships and Kelly Cates for Sky Sport’s Friday Night Football for the Sports Presenter, Commentator or Pundit award.

Launched last year, the RTS Channel of the Year award, will be contested by CBBC, BBC One and Channel 5.
