Returning to the IBC Show is the specially curated IBC Future Zone with the very latest innovative technologies, industry standards and future product solutions on display.
This year, the feature will focus on how new technologies grow from their first inception throughout its lifecycle to research, development and to the point of validation and maturing into the market.
Industry leaders in research and development including Japanese-based NHK and the UK’s BBC R&D set to demonstrate a number of technology advances including artificial intelligence (AI) in broadcasting, web-VR applications, object-based media scenarios and pathways to 8K resolution for Ultra-HD.
Research foundations ETRI from South Korea and Germany’s IRT are contributing to international collaborative research projects.
They will be demonstrating the object-based broadcasting of major sports events, smart stadium technologies and the world’s first intercontinental ultra-wide vision (UWV) transmission between South Korea and the Netherlands.
Video solutions take a prominent place with advances in 4K UHD and various implementations of UHD technology standards to be shown on the UHD Forum stand, including end-to-end OTT HDR systems and new academic research into high contrast HDR techniques.
IABM Future Trends Theatre
The IABM Future Trends Theatre will showcase new technologies that deliver strategic business advantages across the media industry, with a programme to spotlight new business models and technology opportunities.
Open to all visitors, the theatre will host an agenda of 20 minutes presentations designed to explore up-and-coming technologies and business trends and the ways they will merge into today’s media environment.
Executives from Hexaglobe, Videomenthe, Prime Focus Technologies and Blue Lucy will present a range of topics including AI, cloud business models, new-age content supply chains as well as blockchain.
