The switch from SDI to IP-based broadcast studios is now well under way. Going fully IP promises unparalleled flexibility from production to playout.

Through a series of early adopter case studies, IBC365 examines how broadcasters and suppliers are meeting this transition and what real-world benefits the IP revolution can bring broadcasters, vendors and audiences.

Join the discussion to:

  • Learn how all-IP broadcast infrastructure is being implemented by broadcasters who have already done it
  • Hear how Broadcasting Center Europe built an end-to-end IP broadcast facility at RTL Group’s Luxembourg headquarters.
  • Gain an understanding of the standards SMPTE is developing for the IP transition
  • Discover how BBC Wales designed a brand new IP broadcast centre from the ground up in its new Cardiff studios

Roger has worked in Technology for over 25 years in various different industry sectors including manufacturing, logistics, software and housing.  The last 14 years he has worked for BBC Wales and is currently Head of Technology where he is responsible for the specification, delivery and support of technology at all BBC sites in Wales.  His main focus at present is the delivery of BBC Wales’ new high tech broadcast centre based in Cardiff, Wales which will be one of the most advanced broadcast centres in the UK.  The decision has already been made to build a fully IP infrastructure based on SMPTE ST 2110 and one of the priorities is to ensure that the BBC Wales workforce is sufficiently skilled to support the new technology once it is in operation.
