Future Zone

The Future Zone provides a tantalising glimpse into the future of tomorrow’s electronic media. This collection of mind-bending concepts and prototypes exist only in the world’s leading broadcast R&D labs, or as academic papers, until they are demonstrated here.

Rather than a commercially available product, this visionary technology will make visitors step back and re-think what is possible. Also included in the Future Zone are carefully selected Posters, chosen by the IBC Technical Papers Committee for their relevance to the subjects of IBC2012’s conference programme and interest to IBC attendees.

In 2011 the Future Zone featured an astonishing live presentation of Super Hi-Vision built by NHK (Japan Broadcast Corporation); DOTS, an archiving format claimed to have a 100-year lifespan; an interactive panoramic soccer game, part of the EU’s FascinatE project; and breakthroughs in High Dynamic Range imaging from the University of Warwick.

What will IBC have in store for 2012 and beyond? Don't miss the opportunity to discover the future of the industry.
