Topics will include common compression formats; codecs versus containers; the relationship between bit rate, frame size and quality; the impact of and techniques for pre-processing prior to compression; an overview of the components of typical live streaming architectures; and common questions and misconceptions relating to encoding and live streaming.

Orad Hi Tec Systems - Orad Maestro plugin to Apple’s Final Cut Pro
As part of its complete graphics solutions, Orad has recently developed a plugin for Final Cut Pro that enables the re-use of exciting 3D graphics  that have been created for real time productions in post production environments, thereby providing a consistent look and feel between graphics played live on air and graphics used in post production; and maximizing efficiency by allowing the repurposing of already created graphic material without extra work. This plugin integrates with other Orad modules like Maestro real time graphics playout solution, and Orad’s graphic assets management module.

Tiger Technology - Storage virtualization in the post facility
Ten years ago, the post industry was busy defining new codecs and tools for editing and manipulating digital content. Five years ago, it realized the need for improved workflow and started focusing on media asset management, high-speed SAN and other types of shared storage solutions. With complete businesses now dependent on these new digital hubs, the challenge facing most facility owners is to manage an insatiable growth for always more storage. Thankfully, new affordable storage virtualization technologies are emerging that allows combining, managing, storing and migrating data in a transparent and efficient way.

VidiGo / Delta Solutions - Flash Graphics ready to be TV-Graphics
Within a few years all TV-Graphics will be produced by web developers. Although not yet widespread it is already possible to replace traditional time-consuming and costly video graphics by easy to make Adobe Flash Graphics. Webdevelopers and designers daily create tons of graphics using Flash. They look smart, can easily be made interactive and brought to live using realtime database connections. This session will focus on the advantages of Flash based broadcast graphics and how VidiGo Graphics helps you to get them on air in no time.

Saturday 12th September:
EVS - Instant Tapeless Technology integration with Post-Production - Avid and Apple FCP
EVS Instant Tapeless Technology offers seamless integration with Avid and Apple post-production tools thanks to its native support by EVS XT[2] and XS server of multiple HD and SD codecs as well as to new API solutions maximizing file interchanges. This allows for efficient and high speed transfers between production and post-production whilst still preserving native quality. Content recorded on the XT[2] or XS server during live events or studio recording sessions, can be directly made available on Apple or Avid through clip transfer or feed streaming managed manually or automatically by EVS software applications.  EVS also offers intuitive tools to automate the process of re-wrapping or transcoding media files, making the process unattended and completely ‘hands-free’. Final edits can also be transferred back on the EVS platform for reliable instant playout management.

Digital Vision- Creating Unique Looks and Styles with Digital Vision grading systems
The color correction process has evolved into sophisticated look enhancement and has become a key component of the storytelling and visual style.

Some of the Digital Vision Film Mater tools have been influenced by laboratory print timing, telecine to video correction, as well as graphics retouching and of course digital intermediate workflows.  Veteran colorist Kevin Shaw, a founder of the International Colorist Academy, shows how Film Master creates these looks in simple and effective ways.  The examples will include a variety of Film Master color tools, DVO, Blend Modes and their typical applications.
