Tech Papers 2026: This paper examines a low-cost virtual production system designed to make in-camera VFX more accessible to mid- and low-budget productions using commodity hardware.
Abstract
BBC Research & Development has developed Osmia VP, a low-cost, field-deployable virtual production system for in-camera VFX. We seek to reduce the barrier to entry for virtual production, which relies on specialist equipment and proprietary software and is therefore too costly for mid- to low-budget productions.
