Sports streamer DAZN has made three key hires to its executive leadership team, saying they would help drive the next phase of the group’s growth.
Patrick Delany has been appointed Chief Operating Officer (COO), based in London. He will be responsible for the day-to-day trading performance of DAZN, driving subscriber and revenue growth across the company. He will oversee DAZN’s operational businesses, pricing and packaging, rights renewals and rights-holder relationships, content production and execution, as well as advertising and sponsorship.
As CEO of Foxtel Group since 2018, and previously CEO of Fox Sports Australia, Delany reportedly led the transformation of the Australian media businesses and the launch of Kayo Sports and Binge.
Most recently, following its acquisition by DAZN, Delany led the integration of Foxtel into DAZN, creating DAZN Australia, a company with products used in one of every two Australian homes.
Alongside Delany, Alex Gersh will join DAZN as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), succeeding Darren Waterman. Previously, Gersh was CFO of Sportradar, leading the company through its successful Nasdaq listing. Before that, he was CFO of Betfair and subsequently Paddy Power Betfair following their merger.
Darren Waterman has also been appointed to the new role of Chief Business Officer (CBO), spearheading strategic commercial, partnership, and transformational opportunities for the group. He has been DAZN’s CFO since 2022, leading its finance function as well as the group’s commercial and corporate development.
Moreover, DAZN confirmed that Alice Mascia has decided to leave DAZN at the end of the year, after four years as CEO in the DACH region. As a result, Felix Krause will return to DAZN with immediate effect as Deputy CEO, DACH and will become CEO, DACH, on 1 January 2027.
Likewise, Ed McCarthy has been appointed Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, effective immediately. His responsibilities remain unchanged, and McCarthy continues to report directly to DAZN Group CEO Shay Segev.
Shay Segev, CEO, DAZN Group, said: “DAZN is entering an exciting new chapter of profitable growth, during which we will build on the strong momentum we have created in the business. Our built-for-sport platform is now available in more than 200 markets, connecting millions of fans across the world to the sports they love through immersive experiences that go far beyond broadcast. The stage is set for our strengthened leadership team to intensify our mission to build the world’s best sports entertainment platform for fans, rights holders, and partners.”
