Viaplay’s Dutch operations generated net sales of €149m in 2025. Viaplay has rights to England’s Premier League, Germany's Bundesliga, motor racing's Formula 1, and PDC darts in the Netherlands.

The Dutch subsidiary has been restructuring its business to focus on the Nordic market in recent years, after sustaining heavy losses when it expanded into the US, UK, and the Baltics.

The Viaplay streaming service is available in every Nordic country. The company also operates TV channels across most of its markets, as well as commercial radio stations in Norway and Sweden. Allente, a leading Nordic provider of TV and broadband services, is part of Viaplay Group.

According to Viaplay, the deal is expected to close in the coming months but is subject to the approval of regulatory authorities and its lenders.

Jørgen Madsen Lindemann, Group President and CEO of Viaplay, said: “The sale is in line with our strategic transformation and the priority to focus on the group’s operations in our core Nordic markets, where we have the greatest scale and synergies. The proceeds of the sale will enable us to accelerate the deleveraging and strengthening of the group’s financial profile.”

UC3, which manages the commercial rights for UEFA club competitions, recently confirmed the preferred bidders for media rights to UEFA men’s club competitions in 19 global territories.  A number of other bidders – including DAZN, ESPN, Paramount+, Sky, and Viaplay – were selected across multiple territories.
