From conference speakers to innovative exhibitors on the show floor, IBC2022 looks towards the future of media technology.

The IBC Conference (9-10 September) for Conference Pass holders leads the way with over 20 hours of research, strategic interviews, presentations, panel discussions and technical papers across two days and two stages. Sessions take place in The Forum Theatre and Room E102.

Peter White, CEO, IABM, who will be presenting findings from the 2022 IABM State of the Industry Report.

Dave Duvall, Chief Information Officer, Warner Bros. Discovery, who will be interviewed by Caretta Research Co-founder Rob Ambrose on how two media giants come together from a technical point of view.

Deep Bagchee, Chief Product Officer, ITV, who will discuss how Britain’s largest commercial broadcaster plans to supercharge streaming through significant content investment, a redesigned product and live and FAST channels.

Andrew Gower, Head of Immersive Content Research, BT, who will be discussing research into synthesising facial movements for the metaverse, which can be superimposed on either a realistic or chosen “face.”

Kiyoshi Kurihara, Research Engineer, NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation), who will be talking about a new approach to text-to-speech conversion, which is able to relate textual symbols directly to phonemes. The result is genuinely human-like speech which is being used to replace a human news presenter.

IBC2022 Changemakers and other speakers

The Conference isn’t the only place to hear from the most innovative thinkers in broadcast, media and entertainment. Free to attend sessions take place throughout IBC2022 at the Showcase Theatre (Hall 12), Innovation Stage (Hall 2) and the Content Everywhere Stage (Hall 5). 

New for 2022 is Changemakers, a series of free to attend sessions that take place in The Forum Theatre and Room E102 from September 11-12.

Maria Virtudes Briz, Head of Product Development, Telefonica, who will be explaining how Telefonica used ContentWise Data Insights to assist in creating a data-driven approach to content discovery and recommendation.

Ian Cockett, GVP Engineering & Technology, Warner Bros. Discovery, will talk about how Warner Bros. Discovery uses GV AMPP to produce remote live events for multiple audiences in multiple languages.

Karen Clark, Head of APAC, Telstra Broadcast Services, will be at IBC2022 to speculate about where OTT goes next? OTT 2.0?
