Paul Thomas Anderson’s comedy thriller One Battle After Another leads the 2026 BAFTA film awards longlists with a record 16 mentions.
Chloe Zhao’s Hamnet and Ryan Coogler’s Sinners are close behind, with 14 longlist spots each.
The final nominations for the BAFTAs will be announced on 27 January 2026.
One Battle After Another scored longlist mentions in all the major BAFTA categories, including Best Film, Best Director, and Adapted Screenplay.
It also has a strong presence in the performance categories, with newcomer Chase Infiniti landing on the Leading Actress longlist, Leonardo DiCaprio on the Leading Actor longlist, and Sean Penn, Benicio Del Toro, and Teyana Taylor on the respective Supporting longlists.
Chloé Zhao’s Hamnet and Ryan Coogler’s Sinners both landed Director, Best Film, and performance mentions.
Josh Safdie’s Marty Supreme follows with 13 mentions, while Bugonia and Frankenstein both clocked 12. Sentimental Value and Wicked: For Good close off the leading pack with eight mentions each.
Of the British titles, Harry Lighton’s Pillion and Kirk Jones’s I Swear landed six mentions, and The Ballad of Wallis Island was listed in five categories.
Other films with multiple mentions include 28 Years Later, Die My Love, FI, and A House of Dynamite, which all landed four mentions.
The BAFTA Film Awards take place on 22 February 2026.

BBC appoints Rhodri Talfan Davies as Interim Director General
