Wyplay has been selected to power Sky Connect, the latest 4K Android TV DVR which has just been launched by Sky Brasil.
Sky Connect provides a wide set of features, including live satellite TV, pay-per-view, push and broadband VOD all in 4K Ultra HD. Subscribers will be able to enjoy their favourite content in HD at any time with DVR and OTT streaming services such as Netflix or Sky Brasil’s proprietary VOD platform. They will also be able to use far-field voice control through the Sky Connect Android TV environment.
By leveraging the work done for the launch of Linux STBs for Sky Brasil and DirecTV Latin America in 2016, Wyplay managed to meet parent company Vrio’s expectations. Wyplay also provided the Sky Brasil technical engineering team with the Android TV software stack, STB integration services, validation services and support for STB program management.
In addition, the LATAM operator can now use FAMS, Wyplay’s analytics solution, to study event reporting analytics (zap, stand-by, VOD, etc).
“We are proud to have been selected once again by Vrio to work on this project for the new Sky Brasil Android TV STB. Wyplay is now a long-term partner of trust for Vrio and will continue to provide valuable services throughout the years,” said Jacques Bourgninaud, CEO of Wyplay.
As part of the project, Wyplay will develop new features on the operator’s existing STBs and provide on-going annual software maintenance as well as support for Android OS and APK updates on Sky Connect.
“Sky Connect will offer an integrated digital home experience for our customers. The device provides a hub for all things entertainment with access to the latest applications, adding value to the pay-TV experience and offering innovative platforms and assets, such as the connection with Google Assistant, which allows customers to change channel or volume, for example, using far-field microphones. It is a great innovation for the Brazilian pay-TV market that enables clients to explore new contents and assets,” said Andre Ribeiro, marketing vice president of Sky Brasil.
