Friend MTS to focus on data-driven tools to combat piracy

Placing data-driven tools at the centre of its IBC showcase, Friend MTS will be focusing on new ways to visualise, report and act on anti-piracy insights.

The company is previewing a new platform built around service dashboards, curated metrics and a secure, self-service client workspace. Designed for ease of use, the system offers intuitive navigation and tailored analytics.

McCarthy: ‘We’re shifting the conversation from just anti-piracy to broader cybersecurity risks’

As piracy continues to be linked with fraud and organised crime, Friend MTS will also spotlight its investigation services, which help identify and map illicit streaming operations to support enforcement and judicial action.

With piracy consumption across Asia Pacific rising to 59% in 2024, the company is partnering with southeeast Asia’s MNC Media & Entertainment to implement protection strategies for its Vision+ video streaming platform.

The deployment, said to be the first of its kind in Indonesia, includes real-time watermarking and monitoring of high-value sports such as national football matches.

Shane McCarthy, CEO, Friend MTS, said: “Indonesia is one of the fastest-growing video streaming markets, but also one of the hardest hit by piracy. MNC’s commitment to tackling piracy is a significant milestone for the entire Asia-Pacific region. Together, we’re going beyond protecting content by shifting the conversation from just anti-piracy to broader cybersecurity risks."
