Video optimisation specialist Beamr Imaging will unveil its latest innovation, Live 4K Super Resolution, at IBC2025.
This offering, which will be available through Beamr’s partners, is designed to overcome the complexity and cost of upgrading live content to 4K. Beamr said it ensures a scalable path for media and entertainment companies to meet growing viewer expectations, by optimising both the video and the delivery network.
Beamr will demonstrate how its proprietary technology, accelerated by GPUs, enables broadcasters and streamers to deliver ultra-high-definition (4K) video from low-resolution (720p) sources in real time. This is made possible by Beamr’s Content-Adaptive Bitrate (CABR) technology, which it said reduces video file sizes by up to 50% while preserving visual quality.
Particular applications include live events such as sports matches and music concerts, where large volumes of video are captured from multiple cameras, often with low resolution, and must be delivered to premium viewers using 4K devices or smart TVs.
Dani Megrelishvili, CPO at Beamr, said: “We’re solving the broadcaster’s fundamental economics problem. 4K streaming requires significantly more bandwidth than 720p, but CDN costs don’t have to scale proportionally. Our approach delivers premium quality without the traditional cost multiplication.”
