A total of 14 broadcasters across 13 countries have teamed up to bring the Mediterranean Games Taranto 2026 to audiences across Europe and North Africa.
Taking place in Taranto, Italy, from 21 August to 3 September, the region’s leading multi-sport event brings together athletes from across Europe, Africa, and Asia for two weeks of competition spanning 31 sports.
European Broadcasting Union (EBU) members providing coverage of Taranto 2026 are: Albania’s Radio Televizioni Shqiptar (RTSH); European Parliament TV (EPTV); Radio Algeria; Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (CYBC); Kosovo’s Radio Television of Kosovo (RTK); Rádio e Televisão de Portugal (RTP); North Macedonia’s Macedonian Radio Television (MRT); Radio and Television of Montenegro (RTCG); Morocco’s Société Nationale de Radiodiffusion et de Télévision (SNRT); Greece’s ERT; Turkish Radio Television (TRT); and Télévision Tunisienne. They are joined by Sport en France and Egypt’s OnSport.
Eurovision Sport, the EBU’s free streaming platform, will also provide complementary international coverage.
It follows the renewal of the partnership between the EBU and the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games (ICMG), after the two collaborated on the Mediterranean Games Oran 2022 and Mediterranean Beach Games Heraklion 2023.
The partnership will also cover the Mediterranean Beach Games Portimão-Lagoa 2027, taking place in Portugal from 11 to 18 September 2027.
Andreas Aristodemou, Director of Olympics at EBU Sport, said: “The Mediterranean Games are a special event for the EBU and our Members, bringing together athletes and audiences from across Europe, Africa, and Asia through a shared passion for sport. We are delighted to see such a strong line-up of EBU Members bringing Taranto 2026 to audiences across Europe and beyond and making the Games widely accessible across their services.”
IBC recently presented the International Honour for Excellence (IHFE) to Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) – recognising the company’s decades of innovation in live sports production and its far-reaching impact on the global broadcast industry. Discover more here.
