1917 wins big at 2020 Bafta Awards

1917 was the big winner at the annual Bafta awards, picking up seven gongs including Best Film, Best Director and Best Cinematography.

The World War One drama also bagged the Best British Film award at the ceremony, which took place in London.

Joaquin Phoenix was named Best Actor for his role in Joker, while Renee Zellweger took home the award for Best Actress for her portrayal of Judy Garland in Judy.

Joker had led the nominations, which garnered some controversy due to allegations of a lack of diversity in acting categories.

Lord of the Rings star, and winner of the 2019 IBC International Honour for Excellence, Andy Serkis was given a lifetime achievement award by the British Academy.
