Ed Almond

Chief Executive and Secretary of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET)

Ed is passionate about advancing engineering and technology for the benefit of society and the environment, and proud to be the Chief Executive and Secretary of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), one of the world's largest multi-disciplinary engineering institutions. He is committed to fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence within the IET, and to enhancing its global reputation, influence, and impact.

Ed's early career was in biochemical engineering, including as a researcher at Cornell University, University of California at Berkeley and Rothamstead Research. He subsequently trained as a chartered accountant with EY before roles in the construction sector and joining IET in 2000.

Within the IET he has led the Strategy, Finance & Planning functions including the project management of major refurbishment projects and the 2006 merger. He was appointed Chief Executive & Secretary at the start of 2023.
