wTVision has provided six ChannelMaker systems for the main playout operations of Brazil’s InterTV along with six backup systems.

Supporting ChannelMaker in its automation tasks is R³ Space Engine, wTVIsion’s real-time 3D graphics render engine, and Media Tools, an ingest and trimming solution that enriches the channel’s video workflow.

wTVision also provided InterTV with its own Media Server, making it easy to build playout automation and ChannelMaker’s operations.

To keep track of all media available across the network and make sure it reaches the intended destination, ChannelMaker integrates with MAM. In InterTV’s case, wTVision’s Media Manager is particularly important, once it is integrated with the network’s OPEC system.

With this setup, InterTV can analyse ad rundowns in real-time, identify competition collisions and find the right fit in a fully automated environment. This allows InterTV to generate more revenue, reduce costs and create a more efficient space for advertisers.

“The engineering department of InterTV had the challenge of implementing a new model of Central Cast, integrating five channels, a backup channel and making room for future expansion. The premises were to use already established hardware, robust and totally redundant technology, in addition to finding automation that adapts to this hardware, without losing resources. We found in wTVision the partnership we were looking for to provide the automation solution, develop and customise resources according to the needs identified by the operators themselves and implement the system, even with the challenges imposed by the pandemic. The system has been on the air for almost a year and continues to improve,” said Sérgio Mansano, InterTV’s engineering director.

wTVision’s playout system is responsible for broadcasts across five different networks spread across three states (Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais and Rio Grande do Norte), under a Central Cast model.

This complex operation designed by wTVision, in a partnership with InterTV, delivers the operational efficiency the channel was looking for. Thanks to this new playout automation model, the network was able to centralise operations, have greater control over the content and become more efficient in its costs.
