Sony has unveiled its fourth-generation DWX Digital Wireless Microphone Series: the DWT-B40 bodypack transmitter and Dante-compatible DWR-R40Q rack-mount receiver.
Markus Warlich, Pro Audio Lead, Sony Professional Europe, said: “It’s a big step for Sony. It’s completely new for both transmitter and receiver, even though it is fully compatible with previous generations.”
The receiver’s channel count is now four instead of two, enabling RF space efficiency and simplifying channel setup and pairing. It offers up to 50mW of transmission power for long-range use without an external power source.
Warlich added: “We have developed a completely new RF section for greater stability and wider range. The beltpack now takes an SD card that can record up to 1,000 hours of raw audio.”
It also supports 48V phantom power without needing a separate plug pack, while remaining the same size and weight. It still works with dual AA batteries but can also now be used with a Sony NP-BX1 lithium-ion battery.
