NABA and APWPT have partnered to further the interests of wireless microphones and other production equipment in North America and Europe.
The organisations, North American Broadcasters Association (NABA) and the Association of Professional Wireless Production Technologies (APWPT), aim to gather relevant data on the use of wireless production equipment in the M&E industry and on how regulatory changes would impact the organisation of live shows such as cultural performances and sporting events.
The organisations bring together broadcasters and other media production professionals, RF coordinators, users, and manufacturers of wireless microphones and cameras, cultural associations, scientists, and labour unions, all of whom collectively have an interest in ensuring the future of wireless event production, including the preservation of essential spectrum.
“NABA and APWPT, through this strategic partnership, aim to work together to advocate for interference-free frequencies for all types of program-making and special events (PMSE) applications, through the mutual international exchange of data and strategy planning,” said Jochen Zenthöfer, Chairperson of APWPT. “Our efforts will be communicated through public advocacy efforts for policymakers and regulatory bodies and other educational and public relations activities.”
Rebecca Hanson, Director-General of NABA, added: “Wireless production technologies are fundamental to the live broadcasting of sports, entertainment, and news that viewers around the world enjoy every day. Yet, as demand for spectrum continues to grow and access is reshaped by regulatory policy changes, it’s increasingly crucial for broadcasters and media producers to have reliable access to interference-free frequencies.”
