Virtual production studio Dimension has launched a live events division.
The new division, which is led by Executive Producer Mark Bustard, will aim to harness Dimension’s experience in virtual production for film and TV for live events.
It will work with event producers, attractions, and IP or estate owners to create experiences that immerse audiences in live shows, with virtual performances or inside other worlds.
Dimension Live will provide end-to-end and bespoke services, working from early concepts, real-time visualisations and technical design, through to content production and on-site execution.
One of its first partnerships is with HERE at Outernet, a new live events space in London. It supported Hamil Industries and artist Akiko Nakayama to provide real-time virtual lighting and a set extension on the stage's LED screen for electronic musician Floating Points.
Dimension Live will work across live and virtual concerts or location-based entertainment. Its offering includes digital versions of venues, extending venues through LED screens, creating interactive media experiences, running off-site technical rehearsals and developing convincing digital performers.
Dimension’s virtual production credits include Masters of the Air (Apple), Whitney Houston biopic I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Sony Pictures), Those About to Die (Peacock) and Here (Sony Pictures).
Simon Windsor, Co-CEO and Co-Founder of Dimension Studio, said: “Dimension has a rich, innovative history in live and immersive entertainment. Over the past decade, our team has delivered exciting ‘firsts’ for artists including Coldplay, Madonna, and Sam Smith, and inspired audiences through our 3D and holographic work at visitor attractions and events. Led by Mark Bustard, our new live division builds on this work, bringing the magic and latest benefits of real-time technologies to the world of live events.”
