Mark Roberts Motion Control (MRMC), a Nikon company, has bought Slidekamera, effectively doubling the number of motion-controlled and robotic products MRMC offers.

“The businesses complement each other very well in terms of range of products,” said Assaf Rawner, MRMC CEO, who particularly likes Slidekamera’s agile development of new products, both for broadcast and motion control.

MRMC had already been using Slidekamera’s rails for its PTZ systems and found it adapted easily to integrate into MRMC’s software and systems. Indeed, all the Slidekamera products have already been integrated with MRMC software.

“The acquisition provides MRMC with a number of new robotic heads at a competitive price point. This is something that our reseller channel often requests, and we believe that this now gives us the most complete set of robotic solutions on the market,” said Paddy Taylor, Head of Broadcast, MRMC. He sees great potential for products like MRMC’s AJS-1 automated jib to be paired with Slidekamera’s X-Head, adding options for manual control to the automation.

Gdansk-based Slidekamera is mainly known in Northern Europe, so being part of MRMC will give it much wider visibility. “For us, it’s a great opportunity because we are a small company,” said Sebastian Pawelec, CEO, Slidekamera.
