Caringo has launched a new Swarm Cloud DR managed service, powered by Wasabi Hot Cloud Storage.
The combined system is designed to leverage the enterprise data protection methods that have been present in Swarm from the start with the ability to instantly add a remote, seamless disaster recovery site powered by Wasabi Hot Cloud Storage.
The Swarm Cloud DR service is offered as a three-year add-on to an existing Swarm deployment or Swarm Server Appliance purchase and includes customisable backup to any one of Wasabi’s globally distributed data centres with no egress fees, as well as a recovery management service by Caringo.
Caringo Swarm, now at version 11.2, is software-defined object storage that provides an S3-compatible, on-prem platform for data protection, management, organisation and search at massive scale for unstructured data, such as photos, videos or files. It decouples data from applications and hardware, which it claims provides a foundation for continued data access and analysis that can continuously evolve while guaranteeing data integrity.
“Many of our customers don’t have a secondary data centre but have a requirement to store a copy of data offsite,” said Tony Barbagallo, Caringo CEO. “Cloud storage paired with on-prem storage is an ideal solution, and, when looking at services to integrate with, Wasabi offered an excellent mix of reliability and predictable costs.”
Wasabi delivers hot cloud storage technology that is claimed to be a fraction of the price of Amazon S3 and faster than the competition with no fees for egress or API requests. The companies maintain that the combination of Caringo and Wasabi storage “is ideal for organisations that want to quickly and seamlessly add offsite replication for backup and disaster recovery”.
