The 2024 tranche of broadcast technology specialists whose proposals were successfully shortlisted to this year’s IBC Accelerator Media Innovation Programme will be pitching their ideas to a live, in-person audience and a panel of judges on 6 March.
Registration for the IBC2024 Accelerators Kickstart Day is now open to attend the full-day programme at the IET, London.
Pitches will be from the 12 selected projects run by industry leaders and broadcast technology experts, who aim to tackle real-life problems, through exploring topical industry challenges. Eight of those projects will be chosen to be part of a programme that fast-tracks objectives, solutions and generates effective PoC’s. The eight chosen projects will then prepare to demonstrate their work in the Accelerator Zone and on the Innovation Stage at IBC2024, in front of an international audience.
The IBC Accelerators Kickstart Day is free to attend and welcomes broadcasters, platforms, studios and key media and technology vendors in the ecosystem. It gives everyone present the opportunity to get involved and learn more about the programme – a framework to support fast-track collaboration and innovation, identifying, addressing and solving business and technology challenges in a matter of months.
Muki Kulhan, IBC Accerators Innovation Lead commented on the programme: “What the IBC Accelerators Kickstart Day brings is the opportunity to be surrounded by globally established brands and senior level stakeholders, both as our Champions (broadcasters, studios, academia) and Participants (vendors and solution providers).
The focus of the day is on the Accelerator challenges and finding the right synergies between the Chapions and Participants that will help form the dream team for each project. It’s also a great chance to reconnect and have a drink with your peers and customers and meet the IBC team to get excited about Amsterdam 2024.
“It’s also a chance to get stuck in to some of the top level R&D innovation for 2024 - I’m talking big themes that the industry wants to explore and work on collaboratively. We’re talking groundbreaking discoveries that have the potential to make an impact on the industry. The stakes are raised higher than ever before, so let’s go!”
The IBC Accelerators Media Innovation Programme was described by the 2023 Participants as a “R&D playground,” where real PoC’s can be put to the test to receive “insightful feedback” and a “real opportunity for fast-tracking innovation.”
Nearly 90% of last year’s Participants also reported that they would recommend the IBC Accelerator Programme to other colleagues or industry peers.
The Project Leads this year are looking out for projects that identify and address challenges that span the likes of generative AI, sustainable production, distribution, connectivity, cyber security and immersive tech.
Judges at the Kickstart Day will also announce the winner of the 2023 Accelerator Project of the Year Award. The day will be followed by networking.
