Leading French broadcaster TF1’s live channels and streamer TF1+ are now available on Netflix’s platform in France following a landmark distribution deal between the two companies.
In a first of its kind move for Netflix, the streamer’s subscribers can now watch TF1+ programmes and TF1 live channels in France.
The deal, first announced last June, sees Netflix carry live broadcasts from TF1, TMC, TFX, TF1 Séries Films, and the 24-hour news channel LCI.
It spans TF1’s major live sporting events, including the Rugby Nations Championship and major French football team matches, through to its daily dramas and soaps through to reality and competition shows, including Dancing with the Stars.
It means Netflix members in France will receive TF1 as part of their existing subscription, without having to leave the service.
“People have more entertainment choices than ever, so we have to consistently give them the best variety of TV and films in a seamless and personalised way,” said Greg Peters, Co-CEO of Netflix. “Our partnership with TF1 brings together two strong, complementary content offerings in a world-class user experience, delivering even more entertainment value for our members in France.”
“I’m thrilled to see this groundbreaking partnership with Netflix come to life,” said Rodolphe Belmer, CEO of the TF1 Group. “Netflix subscribers will now get to enjoy the very best of TF1 television like never before — from our news programs and biggest rugby and football matches to beloved shows like Star Academy and Koh-Lanta, and major drama events like Été 36. By combining our programming with the power of Netflix’s recommendations, we will reach new audiences together and open up new opportunities for our advertisers."
