Gravity Media has invested in a large number of new Sony cameras to upgrade and expand its global camera fleet, mainly for live sports production, including Formula E motor racing and ATP Tour tennis.
It is replacing a large proportion of its camera fleet with Sony’s latest HDC-Series live production camera chains.
Ed Tischler, Managing Director, Gravity Media, said: “This major investment in Sony system cameras marks a gear shift in our transformation programme, bringing new levels of image quality, portability and creative flexibility to live production environments that put us head and shoulders above our competitors.
“It became imperative to upgrade to the very latest technology covering 4K, HD, High Frame Rate, High Dynamic Range and ultra-slow motion,” he added.

The HDC-3500, HDC-5500 and HDC-P50 cameras are being used for both Formula E and ATP Media, which Gravity Media handles as remote productions. The new cameras will allow its new Production Centre in London to “take the IP off the back of the cameras for remote workflows, so that racing coverage around the globe can be done remotely”, said Eamonn Dowdell, Executive Director, Gravity Media.
