Making its European debut on the Lawo stand is an implementation of the EBU’s Dynamic Media Facility (DMF), an initiative built on a generic-server cluster and controlled via four buzzer-style buttons to change the technology stack with a single press.
Each of Lawo’s selectable example setups at IBC will consist of a mix of Lawo Home Apps with assorted configuration settings, highlighting both Lawo’s VSM workflow control system and the Home Apps universe.
At the heart of Lawo’s presentation is Home 4.0, the latest evolution of its IP-native management platform, which introduces architectural refinements and a simplified licencing model.
The Home platform is now free of charge; with the introduction of Home Passes – lightweight licences for each actively managed device or app – broadcasters gain precise control over infrastructure costs. Home Passes are available as permanent licences or through Lawo’s Flex subscription credit model, and all newly purchased Home-native devices and software products include the required Home Passes.
Also on show, Lawo Workspaces bring intuitive HTML5-native user interfaces to Home Apps, allowing operators access to broadcast-grade tools from any device with a modern web browser.
Entirely platform-agnostic, Lawo says the interfaces are ideal for distributed production teams, control room staff and remote operators.
