From the biggest production to the smallest, there were new lights aplenty to take a shine to in Hall 12.
True Gamut (12.B59) showcased four Aurora Beam lights. The 2500W A9 (2800K-7000K) and 4000W A18 (3200K-5600K) are available now, while the 6000W A24 (3200K-5600K) and 4500W A9C (2800K-10,000K) arrive next year. Except for the full-colour A9C, they are bi-colour fixtures. Xutong Liu, Marketing Manager, claimed: “This series’ LED is the largest LED in the film industry. We are the only manufacturer that has this big power LED, which we developed ourselves.” They offer beam angles of 10º to 38º, or up to 100º with a lens.
The 1200W bi-colour Ruby 1200B from Film Gear (12.D41) is a very bright LED parallel beam light that can adjust from 5º to 55º. It includes LumenRadio wireless DMX control, is IP64 rated and has a 2800K-6500K CCT range. Also new from Film Gear is a motorised yoke system that can carry up to a 250kg payload, that is adjustable to take a wide range of fixtures. There are two small models (150kg or 80kg).
The Creamsource (12.G34) Vortex 24 Soft joins its hard light model to offer 190,000 lux at 3m with a 110º beam angle (compared to 20º for the hard light). Vicci Clayton, Communications Manager, said: “It’s a really nice soft light, with 24 pixels, all individually addressable and IP65 rated.” The RRGBBW LED “gives higher intensity colour.” It comes with lenses or diffusion, has a built-in PSU, and can be mounted tightly together for larger setups.
The new Air Light from Aparo (12.H55) is a range of RGBWW and bi-colour inflatable panels. It comes in 1.2m, 1.2x1.2m, 1.2x2.4m and 2.4x2.4m sizes. The biggest, 1200W Radi-88 Pro Air Ark, is the colour version, with a colour temperature range of 2500K-9999K, with independent control of 20 zones. Its inflatable diffuser has a 108º beam angle. Control is via DMX, CRMX, app or on-board.
The Lightstar (12.D55) Magic Box-4S is a 1200W four-section IP65-rated light that can easily stack together to create a much larger light. It delivers 33,200 lux at 3m, with a 48º beam angle, with a CCT range of 2700K-10,000K.
The Selens (12.D67) P800S is an 800W LED panel light offering high power in a small size. It weighs 12kg, is IP65 rated and uses RGBACL technology, with a CCT range of 2000K-20,000K. Eden Li, Sales Manager, said: “This is a huge range for such a light.”
The new Quartzcolor Studio LED X6 Plus from Cosmolight (12.C42) is a 300W RGBW light that joins the existing X4 (150W) version. Even though it has an unfashionably limited number of colour LEDs (four) it is claimed to be highly colour accurate. It can be equipped with Ethernet for use with the Art-Net protocol.
Visico Studio Equipment (12.C71) unveiled two new LED bi-colour lights. The 200W LED-200GA outputs 7200 lux at 1m, while the 330W LED-330A delivers 93,900 at 1m. They have high colour accuracy (TLCIs of 97 and 98 respectively), a 2700K-6500K CCT range, and control via DMX or Bluetooth app. Visico also has a small new 60W panel light, the FT-650RX, with a CCT range of 2700K-10,000K, DMX and Bluetooth, and an output of 2740 lux at 1m.
The SolaBulb from Astera (12.F33) fits in a standard E27 socket for practical lighting or can be powered via a DC battery input. The mini spotlight has a built-in zoom taking it from 15º to 50º and is full colour calibrated. Axel Menke, Sales Manager, said: “Users can add a snood and barn doors for light shaping, and there is control via app or wireless DMX.” It starts shipping next week.
Aladdin Lights' (12.D57) new Alite2 is an on-board camera light with replaceable battery (which slots inside). It has a foldable diffuser, magnetic grid, and can be used with a magnetic mount. It boasts a TLCI of 99 thanks to its CLAID (cyan, lime, amber, indigo and deep red) five-LED engine, which offers a wide spectrum range of 440-660nm. It has a CCT range of 1700K-20,000K, and users can control multiple lights from its Bluetooth app (it also has Art-Net via WiFi).
Patona (12.B42) showcased a prototype umbrella light with strips of LEDs arranged inside between the ribs. It is extremely lightweight (except for the separate V-mount battery and controller). It acts as its own soft box and can be closed like an umbrella for transport.
